MUSIC GROUND ZERO > MY SIXTH DISCOVERY - PATRICK FIORI

The Italian-turned-French. Despite having been born in a dangerous neighborhood in Italy, Patrick has made an exciting and lucrative career for himself in the French popular music industry. He played the role of Phoebus in "Notre Dame de Paris"...and though Bruno Pelletier and Garou are ahead of Patrick in the list of musicians/singers I admire from that show, he is a strong third! In fact, many of my favorite parts from that show are ones that involve Patrick singing...such as the part where he finally gets Esmeralda in his bed. That music/vocal is a really cool arrangement! And again when he's trying to make up to his fiance by telling her the gypsy girl had bewitched him and he didn't know what he was doing. Also an excellent piece of music!

I've obtained only 1 of Patrick's CDs so far. The most recent one, released in 2002, simply title "Patrick Fiori". I find his music a general mix of medium rock, soft rock and contemporary. I really like Patrick's voice, though, and I like almost every song on the 1 CD I do have. Unlike with Pelletier and Garou, however, I have not obtained any video material. He's not as powerful as the other two, but when he holds a powerful note, he does it with everything he's got. And though his music may not rock hard, he behaves as if it does. Like in "Notre Dame", during the piece where Phoebus is singing about being torn between two women. Fiori sprinted across the front of the stage, then dropped to his knees and slid the rest of the way. He really is fun.

Luckily, though, Patrick's website http://www.patrickfiori.com/ has a list of his CDs, with links in the track lists so that you can listen to a few of the songs. But you first have to click on "Discographie" at the top. For the CD listed at the top, the 2002 release, I recommend "Je Sais ou Aller" - one with more of a rock edge and "Tant que tu Vis" - beautiful ballad. Unfortunately, "Mon Pays" doesn't have a link. It's my absolute favorite from this CD!

Patrick also has quite a few items on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/results?search=patrick+fiori&search_type=search_videos&search=Search

Check him out! He's just the kind of music you crave every once in awhile...like me, right now, in fact!
